[John Nack on Adobe] John Nack on Adobe : Guidance on migrating from ImageReady: But, what really struck me today as I talked to numerous tech support people, including the Fireworks team that is under some delusion that they can work with my ImageReady files, and the Photoshop team who said the only option is to downgrade to CS2, and the home office who has people to politely take notes from frustrated customers like me that have been loyal to Adobe for years, is the fact that there is almost no one at Adobe who seems to know how ImageReady functions and why it was a useful program for web designers. It proves that Adobe is really out of touch with its users and the workflow that many of us use to create websites.

The way it uses layer comps to build the pages of the site all from one psd files, reusing the outputted jpg or gif files is brilliant as is the ability to easily make web site menu changes for the entire wed site.

[GIF, after all, is the lowest common denominator of image accessibility in web speak] It seems ludicrous that Photoshop can produce/output an animated GIF in/from the new time-line panel but cannot render the frames when importing/opening the GIF file again at a later date (comes in flattened).

[John Nack on Adobe] John Nack on Adobe : Photoshop + Fireworks: Where to from here?: In CS2, the context bar at the top of the pages, is really usefull, I wish you could transplant that into the Macro apps, but also transplant the IDE from Macro to CS: ie, I like to have the tools docked and out of the way of the workboard and not floating over the top of it like some of the pallets in PS and Illy. Also I agree with others on here that making round tripping between file formats easier would save a lot of time on my workflows.
