[antonywilliams.com] antonywilliams.com: my take on KDE 4: I am not sure about GNOME, but KDE has a package which allows GNOME apps to use the default KDE fonts and colours; I use GIMP and Firefox(which doesn't looks nice in KDE) and Opera (which looks gorgeous in KDE), since the first day I found Linux.

The Blog of Ben Rockwood: Now that I have OpenSolaris up and running I find myself constantly creating new test zones to play with, I am finally doing proper backups, using zfs send, as well as taking snap shots before I go ahead and do anything that could seriously damage a file system. Using the raidz file system I can store both my media and my backups of other machines, and I am able to saturate a gigbit connection easily when transferring files to and from the machine.

[My Take] My first year with Linux | My Take: I have been focusing on the KDE desktop environment because it looks more like Windows, which is what most users have been used to, but it would be remiss of me to not mention Gnome, another desktop for Linux. Admittedly, I am no expert at editing images, but trust me, Gimp can do anything I need and then some.

Conversely, the half-life of parallel techniques is very short, because hardware changes rapidly and each new machine needs a somewhat different approach.
[Comments for Xubuntu Blog] Design your own desktop with Xfce 4.4 « Xubuntu Blog: On Linux Mint Xfce Edition, the default theme selected on it is one I like, MurrinaGreen, which features a shiny dark green taskbar that obviously uses an image for its background, and I’ve always wondered how to do that. It just so happens that I have a background image that resembles the default blue Windows XP taskbar, and this looks like it will be the final step in getting a desktop for my wife’s login on Mint Xfce Edition that will look all the world like a dead ringer for Windows XP!
