[InDesignSecrets] InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » AppleScript: Why InDesign Users ...: My understanding was that it was only possible to create menu items from Extend Script code on application startup since only Extend Script would allow you to run scripts in InDesign’s session engine and thus keep the event handlers in place (for graying out the menu item if nothing is selected and for responding to clicks on the item etc.). This may be entirely wrong, and I didn’t check the Apple Script documentation, but I distantly remember something in the CS3 scripting guide about something related to the menu things being Extend Script only.
