[John Nack on Adobe] John Nack on Adobe: Guidance on migrating from ImageReady: But, what really struck me today as I talked to numerous tech support people, including the Fireworks team that is under some delusion that they can work with my ImageReady files, and the Photoshop team who said the only option is to downgrade to CS2, and the home office who has people to politely take notes from frustrated customers like me that have been loyal to Adobe for years, is the fact that there is almost no one at Adobe who seems to know how ImageReady functions and why it was a useful program for web designers. It proves that Adobe is really out of touch with its users and the workflow that many of us use to create websites.

[Comments for Notes on Design] 'How Do I Go on Without ImageReady?!' | Notes on Design: Even though this can easily be done using individual graphics and some code work (hand coding, Dreamweaver, or another option), ImageReady users preferred the ability to create all of the rollover images within a single PSD file for easy editing, and just export the images and code all at once. There is no Photoshop alternative for this functionality, so you’ll need to go ahead and export individual graphics and apply the code yourself when you build the Web page.

[Exposure] Making a move: Animated gifs (in Photoshop CS2) R-Design graphic ...: Photoshop defines animations as: “a sequence of images displayed over time. Each frame varies slightly from the preceding frame, creating the illusion of movement when the frames are viewed in quick succession.” Basically, you are creating animation the way cartoons are made, by replacing each frame with another frame that is slightly different.
[CSI is love] CSI is love - Beginners mini-movie icon tutorial - ImageReady CS2: If you haven't done this before, then in IR make sure you have the 'optimize' window open (the one shown in the image below), and then at the top of the window in where it says 'preset' choose 'GIF 128 dithered' from the drop down menu. Then play around with the other settings and, as long as you have 2-up selected in your main window you will be able to see any loss of quality the changes might make.

[John Nack on Adobe] John Nack on Adobe: SiteGrinder 2 turns PSDs into HTML/CSS: I have started using Site Grinder2 Pro after building a site with Fireworks/Dreamweaver and I have to say that I am impressed with Site Grinder2. [Veerle's blog] The new Adobe icons and branding | Veerle's blog: What we had in the CS2 days were elaborate 3d-rendered icons for documents and things which looked nice at really huge views but reduced to little puddles of pixel mud at the small sizes. Arguably it's the 16px and maybe 32px icon view that are the most prevalent, so it's those sizes that we focused on in creating our technique for rendering the figures. The new bits look simple, and in contrast to the 3d-style work out there they are, but there's a lot of nuance to give them richness that scales to the larger sizes.
