[DARelease Forums] This Flash upgrade facilitates an evolution in the animated Web experience, and it's a must-have for serious site developers. Flash authors should warm to the numerous work-flow and design-tool improvements, including new runtime blend modes, filters and effects, support for alpha-channel video, and a rebuilt video codec to shrink file size and playback time.

[Almer/Blank Labs] The Ideal Flash Symbol Library - Almer/Blank Labs: (DLV) which I argued should be implemented both in the Flash IDE, as well as the Flash Builder IDE (nee Flex Builder). So, developers who work with Flash would have an easier time coding with library symbols, and developers who prefer Flash Builder would not have to leave that tool in order to execute normal types of developer tasks in the Library (essentially, assigning class linkages and export settings, but also component-related settings).

[Almer/Blank Labs] The Ideal Flash Symbol Library: Roughly one year ago, I decided to sit down and write up some notes, and draft some wires, of where I thought the Flash IDE GUI could be improved to support improved workflow. As I'm sure any power-user of any tool feels, .
[Comments for Aral Balkan] Aral Balkan · Flash CS3 Components: If you pull any of the components supplied with CS3 out of the components panel into a new document, along with the component skins, one of the additional symbols that is imported into your library is a Compiled Clip called ComponentShim It is placed in a library folder called “_private”. An instance of ComponentShim can be found on frame 2 of all of the components supplied with CS3 (in User Interface.fla).
[BIT-101 Blog] What I DON'T like about Flash CS4 | BIT-101 Blog: I bought CS4 long time ago since pre-order, excited as many of you of their new features and hoping all the debugging compiler new tools will make my coding experiencie so much accurate, the moment I started working it things seems to be unusable cause of the slow slow and processor consuming issues, I had to run back to cs3 which is so much faster compared to cs4, today I just downloaded the Updates from Adobe to CS4 suite let’s see if it works I might post back after trying to work cs4 again 6 months after decided to move back to cs3… I want my money back!!
[The Back Button] The Back Button » Flash IDEs Need a Rebranding: Coming at this as a web developer who is familiar with HTML, javascript and php who wants to develop an Adobe Air application, I don’t want to use flash IDE or Flex Builder etc. I want to build an Air application that will access a simple web page, have the ability to dock to the system tray and be built using the Air SDK, html and javascript (mootools for me).
[Designorati » TOPICS] Fireworks CS3 Is Looking For Its Niche ” Designorati: I think that Adobe’s easiest fix with CS3 was cross-application importing and exporting: now that all the applications were in their hands, it was easier to get rid of the problems facing those importing Illustrator graphics into Flash or Photoshop files into Dreamweaver. Bringing Photoshop files into Fireworks was another sticky point, and that has been resolved with CS3â⬔you can now open Photoshop files easily and retain the layers, sublayers, layer groups, layer effects, and layer masks.
[InsideRIA] Thoughts on Flash Catalyst - InsideRIA: In addition to the revamped components, Gumbo will have the ability to draw simple primitives. Although we can extend Flex Builder 3 with the efforts from the Degrafa team (which is working with Adobe to insure compatibility between them), this is another needed component.
[BIT-101 Blog] Why people hate Flash. | BIT-101 Blog: A html/jquery site for a photography studio, a data visualization heavy stock market application in flex or an immersive video/papervison flash site are all solving the problems they set out too, which is the main thing. At least its exciting times no matter what platform you develop for, I mean regardless of which camp your in ( html/flash/silverlight ) there is some pretty awesome stuff out there on all platforms which I hope like me people appreciate the skill involved in building it.
[The Flash Blog] The Flash Blog » Got a complaint about Flash CS4?: at first I thought it might be due to the use of OpenType fonts But my PS fonts also give me crap results (wrong leading, wrong alignment, I’ll set my text flush and I get the render to be aligned left) also manipulating about any object onstage is awfully sluggish… on a MacPro with 7GB of Ram…
[John Nack on Adobe] John Nack on Adobe: Dr. Woohoo & the future of the Suite platform: Thank you Adobe for understanding that it would not make people very happy if your software were installed onto our systems only to start trying to reinvent the look, feel, flow, and overall usability of our system, a system that has been honed by absolute experts to be consistent and reliable across a multitude of applications and not just your image processing capablities. So thanks again Adobe for not barging onto our systems and trying to disrupt and undo the refined user experience so carefully designed and crafted by our Operating System gurus, something that you have never been good at anyways, hence clearing the path for you to focus on what you do best, help users to process images!
[fullasagoog.com full roast blend] Posts - DWmommy.com: I don't have the expertise or inside knowledge to know if it would be easier/better/smarter for Macromedia to retrofit Dreamweaver to optimize its current code base or if it would be better for them to build upon what they've started with Flex. It just doesn't seem like much of a stretch to me for Macromedia (soon-to-be Adobe) to move Dreamweaver in that direction.
[Mike Chambers] How can Adobe make learning ActionScript 3 easier? at Mike Chambers: like why can’t I specify which fonts to embed in the library and also subset them, instead of having to create a set of text fields, and then have them each embed the subsetted fonts, and then set the embed tag on other text fields to true in as3 (where’s the button that let’s me specify the use embedded fonts flag to true, but doesn’t cause Flash to embed the font – you can do it in AS3, but not the IDE) –
[InDesignSecrets] InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Adobe Announces Support for ...: Keeping an up up to date with an OS is good and all but I’d like to see Adobe work on improving the antiquetted functionality in Illustrator at some point. But since they now have a monopoly on drawing applications I doubt they’ll ever address it.
