PS: Dealing with Photoshop CS2 layer palette changes

[CreativeGuy - Graphic Design Software Tips, Tricks and Commentary] That’s because “selecting” and “linking” are somewhat the same now. If you select two layers as seen in the picture at the right, they are essentially linked the way they were in CS1 - you can move both layers at the same time. You will see that when you select two layers, the link button located at the bottom left of the palette is dark, as opposed to greyed out when you only have one layer selected.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[The Unofficial Photoshop Weblog - photoshop.weblogsinc.com _] Linking layers in CS2: You’ll see that there’s no longer a link column to the left of each layer as there was in previous versions. That doesn’t mean you can’t link layers together. To link layers in CS2, select multiple layers in the Layers palette as I explained in my post on The New CS2 Layers Palette (Shift+click to select contiguous layers, Command+click(Mac) or Control+click(Win) to select noncontiguous layers).

[Photoshopsupport.com] Photoshop Blog - Photoshop News | PhotoshopSupport.com: Digital Outback Photo has announced that its latest E-book, The Art of RAW Conversion, is now available to download for $39.95. The 290-page book authored by Uwe Steinmueller and Jürgen Gulbins explains how to get the best quality from Photoshop CS2 and a number of different RAW converters as well as understanding DNG, basic color management and how to remove noise, chromatic aberration and lens distortions.

[Photoshop.weblogsinc.com] The New CS2 Layers Palette - The Unofficial Photoshop Weblog ...: Command-click (Mac) or Control-click (Win) noncontiguous layers in the Layers palette to select them all. Or if layers are next to one another in the Layers palette, Shift-click the top and bottom layers you want to select. Now you know why Command/Control-clicking a layer no longer selects layer transparency, as I explained in an earlier post on Selecting the Contents of a Layer, the shortcut has been hijacked for this new multiple selection function.

[Sitepoint.com] Ctrl-clicking Layers in Photoshop - SitePoint Design Blog: Layer Sets are great but if your version of Photoshop does not support this feature, you can simply select the Move Tool, highlight one of the layers you want to drag, link all the other layers you desire to go with the highlighted layer and drag from the current Canvas window into the new document window. All linked layers will show up in the new doc.
