Graphic Design Blog > Steve Lamb's Blog : Which fonts are available in Windows 7 and how ...
[TechNet Blogs] I've been suprised at the number of people who've asked me this question in the last couple of days. As I've mentioned previously I moved over to Windows 7 as my main O/S back in October with the PDC/WinHec M3 pre-Beta.

[Comments for istartedsomething] Improvements to fonts in Windows 7 - istartedsomething: It seems that, in Word 12 running on Windows 7 M3, if you enable paragraph marks and other hidden formatting symbols (Ctrl + *), Word will use OpenType ligatures (’fi’, ‘ff’, etc). I’ve tried this with Calibri and Adobe Garamond Pro.
Something Witty Goes Here: We have some advantages in it, because silverlight will probably be something complicated, that only professionnals with a strong formation (and some confidential infos) will be a ble to work with, when anybody with basic programmation skills can start SVG right now. But this cannot alone ensure us the victory: in a very similar situation, VRML/X3D (3D modeling languages) are losing the fight against 3DSmax and Second Life, by lack quite simply of a browser/plugin which really answers the needs of 3D developpers (auto-install, simple to run, free, crossplatform and crossbrowsers, without ads, 100% standard compliant).

[456 Berea Street] Safari 3 beta impressions | 456 Berea Street: I have to say that I was always keen to get my hands on Safari, but after the slating it has got for barely being fit for alpha, let alone beta, and the number of “new” features that we Opera users have had for centuries, it seems more and more like the only reason to download Safari/Win is to test my own websites on it.
[Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows] Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows: Microsoft Office 2007 Beta ...: One of the things I really disliked about Word 2007 back in Beta 2 (see my review) was that the new default formatting styles were horrible, quite different from the previous Word version defaults, and impossible to change back to the old style. In Beta 2 TR, this has been largely fixed: You can now go into the Change Styles and change the Style Set to "Classic" and get something that is almost (but not quite) identical to that used in previous versions (Figure).
[obso1337.org] obso1337.org » On Distributions, Kubuntu, and KDE: I still use Kubuntu because it’s a genuinely community-supported distro and because it’s KDE-centric - OpenSUSE ships the better KDE distro but comes with the Microsoft/Novell issue, and Fedora struggles with Red Hat’s GNOME-centic development methodology like Kubuntu does with Canonical’s. I use Kubuntu because I believe that it shouldn’t take a large company’s support to ship a usable KDE distribution, but sometimes I doubt it.
[Comments for istartedsomething] Neowin.net forum member posts first review of Windows 7 Milestone ...: [...]
